The Neuro Speech Path is dedicated to providing specialized evaluation and treatment for individuals who have acquired aphasia, apraxia of speech, dysphagia and/or mild-moderate cognitive-communication deficits as a result of stroke or brain injury. Our speech-language pathologist is committed to helping clients work towards their goals to improve their quality of life.

Kate Linaugh
            M.S. CCC-SLP

Kate is an adult and geriatric focused speech-language pathologist who specializes in providing speech, language, cognitive and swallowing therapy following stroke or brain injury. She has experience in both acute care and acute in-patient rehabilitation settings for large hospital systems in the Greater Philadelphia and Baltimore areas.

Kate has a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication: Public Relations from Louisiana State University. After graduation, she moved from Louisiana to Philadelphia to work in media relations for the Philadelphia Eagles. After two of her family members faced life-changing swallowing disorders, Kate returned to school to pursue speech-language pathology earning a Post Baccalaureate in Communications Sciences & Disorders from LaSalle University and a Master of Science from Loyola University Maryland. ​
 

Kate became passionate about working with adults during her clinical rotations in graduate school. After years of working in hospitals, Kate founded The Neuro Speech Path so she can focus on providing specialized, meaningful and person-centered care to help stroke and brain injury survivors improve their speech, language, swallowing and cognitive-communication skills while simultaneously improving their quality of life. 

Specialties

Aphasia

Aphasia is an acquired language disorder where individuals have difficulty speaking or understanding what other people are saying. They may also have difficulty with reading and writing. 

Apraxia of Speech

Apraxia of speech (AOS) is an acquired speech disorder that impairs a person's ability to program or coordinate speech sounds. AOS commonly occurs with aphasia. 

Dysphagia

Dysphagia is a medical term for difficulty swallowing. Following a brain injury or stroke, an individual can have problems with chewing or breaking down food, difficulty initiating a swallow, and/or difficulty passing food down the esophagus.  ​

Cognitive-Communication Disorders

Acquired cognitive-communication deficits frequently occur after stroke and brain injury. Skills commonly impacted are attention, memory, executive functioning, social communication, language, and visuospatial skills.

Education & Training

We recognize the impact that a loved one's stroke or brain injury can have on caregivers. We provide education and training to help caregivers and families support our client's recovery.

Contact us to schedule a consultation to determine if we are the right fit for you. You will have an opportunity to discuss concerns and ask questions in a commitment-free setting. 

Evaluation

Comprehensive evaluation may consist of interviews, questionnaires, observations, surveys, standardized assessments, and/or speech-language samples to determine the client's current skills. 

Treatment

Clients will participate in individualized treatment sessions that focus on working towards your goals and improving your quality of life. Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length. 

Additional Information

Private Pay

The Neuro Speech Path is currently a private pay service entity only. Payment is due at the time of service. However, Superbills are happily provided upon request. A Superbill will provide a detailed report of the services provided so you can submit it directly to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed. Please refer to your health insurance plan for specific reimbursement eligibility. 

Location

We provide in-home therapy services within a 5-mile radius of Wayne, PA. An additional travel fee may be applicable for locations beyond 5 miles. We also provide teletherapy services across the state of Pennsylvania.
